Atlas Collectible Firearms is profoundly honored to present a master-tier piece of 2nd Generation single-action artistry: an original 1957-manufactured Colt Single Action Army revolver chambered in .38 S&W Special. Produced during the desirable second year of 2nd Gen manufacture, this wheelgun features a classic 7.5-inch barrel, a 6-shot cylinder, and a custom French grey finish accented by deep blued screws and hammer details. Elevating this showpiece to investment-grade status, it features full-coverage, master-grade scroll engraving signed underneath the barrel beneath the ejector rod with a two-character maker's mark terminating in a cursive "F". Expert analysis places the execution of this hand-cut engraving in the 1960s or 1970s. The longtime previous owner of this revolver stated the engraving was done by the legendary Colt factory master engraver Alvin F. Herbert, who served as Colt's primary artisan from 1954 to 1968 but we have no documentation. Carrying serial number 11724SA sharply stamped on the frame butt, this early 2nd Gen single action represents a true museum-tier work of American gunsmithing art. Outfitted with a set of genuine presentation-grade elephant ivory grips that display a rich, warm natural grain, this custom SAA comes housed in a fitted deluxe presentation display case. The wooden case features a hinged clear-view display top and a plush, crimson-red crushed velvet lined interior cut out specifically to cushion and highlight this 7.5-inch single action revolver. Preserved in very fine collector condition throughout, the custom French grey finish showcases sharp engraving details with exceptional contrast against the blued accent hardware, exhibiting only minimal, superficial handling wear. The genuine elephant ivory grip panels fit the frame flats tight, displaying a smooth polished sheen free of chips or cracks. Mechanically, the single-action mechanism functions with smooth, vault-tight precision, producing four crisp, audible cocking clicks and proper cylinder timing, while the 7.5-inch barrel and cylinder chambers retain clean, bright bores with sharp rifling lines throughout.
