The pistol has been treated to 100% full-coverage Germanic floral and vine hand engraving, attributed to Austrian-born Master Engraver Josef Fugger, the apprentice to Rudolph Kornbrath. The artistry is further elevated by solid sterling silver, hand-sculpted game scene animals—including stags, rams, buffalo, deer, bears, leopard and mountain lion—inlaid into both sides of the slide. This museum-quality masterpiece is correctly appointed with period-correct genuine Mother of Pearl grips featuring silver Colt medallions, which remain in 100% perfect condition. The mechanical action remains factory-crisp, and the firearm is in exceptional, like-new condition with a mirror-perfect bore. Every surface, including the top and bottom of the slide, the grip safety, and the magazine base, exhibits expert engraving. While there are minimal spots of discoloration on the front right edge of the slide, the overall state of preservation is world-class and 99% plus. This is a complete premium collector package, arriving in a custom deluxe wood presentation case with one original .38 Super magazine. Accompanying the pistol is a Colt Archive Letter confirming its May 15, 1953, shipment to Von Lengerke & Antoine in Chicago, Illinois—a high-end retailer owned at the time by Abercrombie & Fitch for which Mr. Fugger did many high end works for.
